Penubuhan Majlis Daerah Pasir Mas
Majlis Daerah Pasir Mas adalah salah sebuah daripada 12 buah Pihak Berkuasa Tempatan di Negeri Kelantan termasuk Majlis Perbandaran Kota Bharu. Ianya ditubuhkan pada 01 Januari 1979 di bawah Akta Kerajaan Tempatan 1976 (171) dengan Warta Kerajaan P.U.7/79.
Luas Jajahan Pasir Mas ialah 577 km persegi dan lingkungan kawasan Majlis Daerah Pasir Mas merangkumi keluasan kira-kira 139 km persegi. Hasil dari percantuman Penguasa-Penguasa Tempatan yang sedia ada iaitu:
- Lembaga Bandaran Pasir Mas.
- Majlis Tempatan Rantau Panjang.
- Majlis Tempatan To’Uban.
- Majlis Tempatan Gual Periok.
Kesemua kawasan tersebut dan beberapa pusat pertubuhan baru diletak di bawah satu kuasa iaitu Majlis Daerah Pasir Mas dan cawangan di Rantau Panjang.
Geografi
Majlis Daerah Pasir Mas terletak di bahagian utara Negeri Kelantan. Ia bersempadan dengan Majlis Daerah Tumpat di sebelah Utara, Tanah Merah di sebelah selatan, Sungai Kelantan dan Majlis Daerah Kota Bharu di sebelah Timur dan Jajahan Sungai Golok, Thailand di sebelah Barat.
Majlis Daerah Pasir Mas merangkumi kawasan penting dalam Jajahan Pasir Mas meliputi keluasan kawasan iaitu 139 kilometer persegi. Keluasan mengikut kawasan adalah seperti berikut:

Umumnya keadaan mukabumi adalah mendatar. Bandar Pasir Mas mempunyai rangkaian jalanraya utama yang menghubungkanya antara Ibu Negeri Kelantan di Kota Bharu dengan Bandar Sungai Golok, Negeri Thailand dan merupakan laluan utama antara Negeri-Negeri di Pantai Barat dengan Ibu Negeri Kelantan di Kota Bharu.
